2022 Innovation Award - Jeff Whary, CDM, CFPP

Congratulations, Jeff Whary, CDM, CFPP!

Jeff Whary, CDM, CFPP started his career in healthcare foodservice over 40 years ago. He was a cook at a retirement home in 1978 while a junior in high school. Jeff has been working in health care for most of his career. He took two years to go to culinary school in Mayslanding, NJ from 1987-1988. After culinary school Jeff held many positions, and held certifications of Certified Executive Chef  and CDM, CFPP at a retirement home in Pennsylvania. He has been a Food Service Director, and his present position is Food Operations Manager for a large CCRC in Gaithersburg, MD, Asbury Methodist Village (AMV). Jeff oversees daily production for Kindley Assisted Living, Wilson Health Care Centers, Montgomery County Meals on Wheels, and the Russell Café, which are all based out of AMV. The production team serves over 1,400 meals a day. Jeff enjoys helping his team push themselves to higher levels, but his favorite part of the day is the interaction with the residents.
